University Department –
Update from Angus McDowell
Great news for the University Department as our work expands further. A
trip to St. Mary’s College, Twickenham this month saw five new Pray,
Play, Sayers plugged into the work and a new university group at one of
the top sporting universities in the country. There was a quiz on campus
last term which drew the attention of a wide range of sports teams and
the new group is gunning for more. Plans are already in place for
outreach events at the start of the academic term in September.
News from the hub of what the University Department is all about. Two of
our established Pray, Play, Sayers went on tour to America this month
with their running team. They have been fully involved in their team,
building relationships with the guys for two years now. The trip was
successful in all areas - the team competed in front of 50,000 people
and ran in Central Park, but the real highlights for the guys were some
great chances to share their faith as they lived it out among their team
mates 24/7. When one of them was asked about a highlight, he said:
“Having spent a while the day before praying for opportunities, out of
the blue over coffee the next evening we spent two hours explaining the
Gospel to 12 of our team mates…..what an absolute privilege!”
