Oxford – Update from Colin Wells

The Oxford Pray, Play, Say Group has continued to be a real encouragement with a regular group of roughly 20 young people coming each month to explore God’s word and play sport, as we seek to help them represent Christ effectively in their world of sport

To support the young people in their evangelism we have had a Night of Champions outreach event and a sports quiz; attended by approximately 45 non-Christian friends who heard the Gospel! The Oxford One Day Sports Plus Camp was another highlight with 100 young people enjoying a top day of sporting action. The Gospel is at work in Oxford – may God continue to effect lives for eternity!

Scotland – Update from Kirsten Ross

Ian Lancaster and I met this month with a number of parents and youth leaders in Aberdeen. As we shared the Youth Department's vision and strategy with them, it was encouraging to hear their feedback, especially with regards to the Aberdeen Pray, Play, Say group. One father shared how the best conversations he has ever had with his son, with regards to life and faith, have taken place in the car on the way home from the group! Another father shared that it is only through attending the group and meeting like-minded young people and leaders, that his son has started coming to church and getting involved with the youth fellowship. Praise God!

The Perthshire One Day Sports Plus Camp took place on 05 April and a great day was had by all! Although numbers were down significantly from last year due to the different school holidays, 13 of the 28 young people who attended were from un-churched backgrounds so it is encouraging to know that they left having heard a clear Gospel message. A number of leaders were also involved during the day and we had a wonderful time in the evening, enjoying food together, spending time learning from the Bible and praying for the work in Scotland.

Northern Ireland – Update from Rachel Young

March saw a One Day Sports Plus Camp take place in Belfast with 30 young people coming along for an awesome day! The theme of the day was 'The Truth Revealed' and we took time in the meetings as well as discussions in teams, to look at Romans chapter 1 verse 16. The weather was brilliant and both the 1st and 2nd sessions of coaching saw some great sporting action in tennis, football and hockey. Mid afternoon saw the return of team challenge which was a keenly fought contest between the teams! The day ended with the final meeting together looking at ‘The Truth Revealed’ in more detail with a quiz of truth, interview with a young person about Pray, Play Say and Ian Lancaster helping us understand Romans chapter 1 verse 16 better for ourselves. A brilliant day of encouragement for the Christians and challenge for those that do not yet know Christ!

In April a team of leaders worked at the Northern Ireland National Boys Brigade / Girls Brigade Conference - there were five on the team which ran sports coaching, a quiz, seminars and team challenge for the young people over the course of the weekend. There was lots to praise God for - an encouraging time together as a team of leaders, positive contacts made with both young people and potential leaders for the future and lives changed and challenged by God.
