Print Friendly version 1st August - Pray for Wales 1 Sports Plus at Christ College in Brecon which begins today for the leaders and on Sunday for the young people. 60 leaders and coaches and 120 young people are expected to take part. Please also pray for the 12 university students and the three members of the Christians in Sport University Department who are on the first week of their mission trip in India. Pray for them as they are at the Christian Sports Fellowship today - training students, leaders and coaches from universities and colleges from across Chennai 2nd August - Give thanks for an excellent tour to South Africa for the ladies football network, 'Beautiful Feet'. Praise God for the opportunities the girls have had to share Christ, invest in key leaders and for the chance to support the work of Ambassadors in Sport. Pray that seeds sown would bear fruit and that those who have been on the tour will continue to grow in Christ as they make the transition back to 'normal' life 3rd August - Pray for Stuart Weir from Verite Sport out in Beijing from 03 to 24 August - undertaking some unofficial chaplaincy work and working with the 2k+ Christian radio partnership. Please also give thanks for the Scotland and Northern Ireland Sports Plus camps which took place during July. Give thanks for the leaders who volunteered their time and money to serve at the camps and for the young people who attended. Pray that God would be at work in the hearts and minds of all the young people, and that many lives would be saved for eternity 4th August - Pray for the follow up conversations from an Adults and Professionals outreach event that took place with the Great British rowing squad in July 5th August - Pray for the Christians in the Great Britain Olympic team out in Beijing. Pray that as they spend time with the team, that God will provide them with many opportunities to live out their faith and speak of Christ 6th August - Pray for the Christians in Sport men’s rugby network ‘Corinthians’, as their tour to South Africa comes to a close today. Give thanks for Mike Smith, for his hard work and commitment in organising the tour, and ask that God would bring forth fruit from the tour 7th August - Continue to pray for the four people who became Christians through the University and Youth Department trips to Lanzarote in June. Pray that they would know the joy of following Christ no matter what they face this summer, and that as they pray and open the Bible, they would grasp daily God’s love and grace for them! Thank God for their friends who have faithfully prayed for them this year 8th August - Pray for the 12 university students and the three members of the University Department serving at a sports camp in Chennai from 08 to 10 August as part of their mission trip in India 9th August - Give thanks for the 270 Pray, Play, Sayers who brought 1400 guests to hear the Gospel at Adult Department guest events last year. Give thanks for those who have stepped from darkness to light. Pray for the Christians in Sport Adults Department as they seek to create another quiz resource for the coming season of events - that they will be inspired in their creativity and produce an excellent and engaging programme 10th August - Pray for Jim Horn and Jono Vaughan as they train and raise the funds for competing in the Woodvale Atlantic Challenge (a 3000 mile rowing race across the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua) towards the end of 2009 11th August - Pray for the More Than Gold Trustees meeting taking place today and for Lord Mawhinney as he chairs the meeting 12th August - Give thanks for Sarah Lewis, for all the hard work and ‘admin’ preparation she has put into organising Sports Plus 2008 13th August - Pray for wisdom for Graham Daniels and Keith Proctor as they lead Christians in Sport 14th August - Give thanks for the work of the International Sports Coalition (ISC) - for its sports leadership training across the world 15th August - Pray for Kirsty Balfour as she starts her Olympic campaign in the 200m Breast-Stroke today, and for Debbie Flood competing in the Quad Sculls tomorrow. Please also pray for the Wales 2 and England Sports Plus camps. This is the first time that two Sports Plus camps have been run simultaneously. Pray that the two camps will provide the Christians in Sport Youth Department with a wonderful opportunity to watch the work of volunteer leaders 16th August - Pray for the Beijing Olympic Organising Committee. Praise God that the committee has approved the printing and distribution of thousands of Bibles and Gospel booklets during the Olympic Games. Please also give thanks for the University Mission trip to India which finishes today. Pray that the whole team would be kept safe and well as they fly home 17th August - Pray for Marilyn Okoro as she begins her Olympic campaign in the 800m athletics event today. Please also pray for Christine Ohuruogu who will be competing in the 400m event tomorrow 18th August - Pray for Gavin Peacock and his family as they move to Canada next month 19th August - Pray that Christian sports people would discover the real joy in worshipping God through playing sport. Pray that they would take opportunities to pray for their team mates who are not Christians, and say something of the Good News of Jesus Christ 20th August - Give thanks for those committed to supporting the work of Christians in Sport in prayer 21st August - Pray for the Christians in Sport office move. Pray that all the building work would complete on time so that the staff team can move into the new office, ready for the start of the Christians in Sport year on 01 September 22nd August - Give thanks for Clare Miles in her role as Finance Administrator for Christians in Sport 23rd August - Give thanks for the 2008 Youth Academy. Pray that they would have had a good summer and would remain steadfast in their faith. Please also pray that God would use them powerfully in the next few months and years - whether they are at home or at university 24th August - Give thanks for the opportunities that the new football season will provide for those involved in the world of professional football to share their Christian faith 25th August - Pray for Graham Daniels teaching at the International Sports Leadership School (ISLS) this week. (The ISLS is a three month, global training school for sports ministry leaders. The school is based in South Africa) 26th August - Give thanks for the wonderful mission field that Christians in Sport is involved in. Pray that the Christians in Sport team (staff members, volunteers and those supporting the work through finance and prayer) would remain committed to the vision of seeing “Christians in every sports club, representing Christ and building the Church” 27th August - Give thanks for the Christians in Sport Trustees - for the support they provide to the Executive Team 28th August - Give thanks for the regional ‘centres’ where Adult Pray, Play, Sayers are networked together. Pray that the existing centres would support Pray, Play, Sayers to stand tall for Jesus and pray that new centres would be established. Please also give thanks for the National Sports Networks (NSNs - networks for people who play the same sport) that already exist in ultimate frisbee, hockey, rugby and women’s football. Pray that more networks would also be established, so that sports players can be supported to more confidently 29th August - Give thanks the 600+ volunteers who enable the work of Christians in Sport. Pray that the Christians in Sport staff team would take the ‘weight’ off these volunteers, so that they can be released into the mission field - to help reach the world of sport for Christ 30th August - Give thanks for God’s financial provision to the work of Christians in Sport. Please pray that current needs would be met. Please also pray for the new Christians in Sport year which begins on 01 September. Pray that Christians in Sport would remain totally committed to seeing lost sports people won for Christ 31st August - Pray for the final
