Administrator, and John Spence, as he joins the Operations Team.Pray that Steph and John would settle into their new roles quickly and as
they help their departments to work more efficiently, that the Christians in
Sport staff team would serve those on the ground more effectively
Updates and highlights to give thanks for:
- 14
Youth Pray, Play, Say groups
(monthly groups for
young Christian sports players to meet together to be supported to
Pray, Play, Say in their sports teams) are already up and running. 6
of these groups are based in Scotland. Another 6 groups are due to
start in the next couple of weeks and another 7 are being planned at
the moment!
- Most university
terms have now started. There are 75
Christians in Sport University Groups
up and running. 8 of these groups are in Scotland. There are now
only 2 universities in Scotland that do not have Christians in Sport
groups.
- The University
Department is currently exploring opportunities to link with Further
/ Higher Education (FE / HE) Colleges in the UK. The University
Department is aiming to have 5
Christians in Sport groups at FE / HE colleges
within the next
year.
- Rachel Young has
headed home to Belfast to co-ordinate and serve the work of youth,
university and adult Pray, Play, Sayers in Northern Ireland.
- 8 regional
Adults Groups
are up and running.
This year, the Adults and Professionals Department is looking to
build and strengthen the
National Sports Networks
(NSNs - networks
helping to link together people who play the same sport) and hoping
to develop 6
regional
networks within professional football.
- The Adults
Department is running an
‘Adult Training Year’
for key volunteer
leaders. The Adult Training Year comprises of one weekend and two
separate Sundays of Biblical and leadership training.
