What is Sports Plus?
An intensive week of specialist sports coaching, games and team competitions.
Many like-minded young people, mad keen on sport - it’s a chance for you to make some great friends. Combine all this with an opportunity of finding out about Jesus and what it means to live for him.

Who is Sports Plus for?
Aged 11- 17 and serious about your sport? Want some quality coaching and an action packed week? Sports Plus is for you!

Serious Sports Action? Sports Plus is aimed at young people who are really passionate about playing sport and who want to improve through five days of intensive coaching.

What ages is Sports Plus for?
Ages 11-17

Who runs Sports Plus?
Sports Plus is run by Christians in Sport staff and a team of volunteers — all of whom are committed Christians. Highly qualified coaches lead sports sessions. Leaders experienced in working with young people lead teams.

What will I be part of?
There will be training programmes in your main sport during the morning. You will be put into teams for group activities and games according to your age (junior league years 7-9/ 1st-3rd, senior league years 10-13/4th-6th). There’s also a chance to try other sports in the afternoon programme and compete in Team Challenge.

The programme is packed with small group discussions, main meetings, optional seminars on pressing issues and coaches water breaks— all addressing questions like: Who is Jesus and what does it mean to follow him? How can I be a Christian in my sport?

What sports are on offer?
The sports on offer at the different camps are:

N Ireland - Football , Hockey, Rugby and Tennis

Scotland - Football, Hockey, Rugby, Tennis, Basketball and Athletics

Wales 1 - Football, Hockey, Teniis, Cricket, Netball and Squash

Wales 2 - Football, Hockey, Rugby, Tennis, Athletics and Cricket

England - Football, Hockey, Rugby, Tennis, Swimming, Basketball, Athletics, Cricket, Golf and Netball

How much will it cost?
Scotland and N Ireland Sports Plus: £220
England and Wales Sports Plus: £245

Please note a non-refundable deposit of £75 per young person needs to be paid on booking.

Sports Plus Bursary Fund

Each year we endeavour to make sure young people can attend Sports Plus even if they are financially restricted. If you feel you are able to contribute towards the Sports Plus 2010 Bursary Fund please indicate on the booking form or send a cheque to the office marked 'Sports Plus Bursary Donation'. Please contact the office if you would like further information.

Jennie Marsh Trophy
The Jennie Marsh Trophy is awarded to the young person who displayed the best attitude at Wales Sports Plus. Jennie was very involved with Christians in Sport through both the university groups and Sports Plus in Wales.  This award remembers Jennie and celebrates the work that she has done for Christians in Sport and her commitment and love for Jesus.

Important Details for parents/guardians
• Places always go fast! We would advise you to get applications in quickly in order to avoid disappointment
• The price includes accommodation, allocated rooms in school boarding houses, and three meals a day
• Young people are divided into junior (going into years 7-9/1st-3rd) and senior (going into years 10-13/4th-6th) leagues, and teams for group activities and accommodation
• If your young person wishes to be in the same team as a friend please notify us on application and we will try to put them together
• Sports Plus runs from 4pm on Sunday of the week in question, to 4pm on the following Friday
• Please note that Christians in Sport is not able to provide transport, including pick ups from stations, for young people to the Sports Plus venue
• Sports Plus is run according to Child Protection guidelines. These are available to view on the website or by request
• Sports Plus runs according to Health and Safety guidelines. However, by the nature of sporting activity and the British weather, injuries may occur. The sports programme will generally continue in wet weather under the discretion of the Head Coach and we cannot be held responsible for injury where sufficient precautions have been taken
• Christians in Sport is covered by public liability and employer’s liability insurance
• A fully qualified medical team will be on-site throughout the week
• Some sports may involve off site travel. All drivers and vehicles are fully insured for this purpose
• Some sports will have limited numbers and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis
• Christians in Sport reserves the right to change any programme elements in the unlikely event of unforeseen circumstances
• Your details will be added to our mailing list so that we can send you information about Christians in Sport. If you would like to opt out of the mailing list please inform us when booking
• It is our policy not to exclude any young person through a disability. The needs of each young person varies, so decisions are made on an individual basis depending on the level of support required to enable the young person to fully participate in and enjoy activities at Sports Plus. Please contact the office to discuss this further
• Cancellation Policy If for whatever reason you have to cancel, please inform Christians in Sport in writing immediately. The deposit is non-refundable. Other cancellation charges are shown below - date taken from the start of Sports Plus on receipt of cancellation:
Less than 1 week — No refund.
More than 6 weeks — Full refund minus deposit.
Less than 3 weeks — 25% of total fees refunded.
Less than 6 weeks — 50% of total fees refunded.
• You will receive acknowledgement of your application by email or post within 2 weeks – if you do not hear from us please contact us as soon as possible.

How to Book
Bookings for 2010 open on Monday 18th January at 9am. Bookings will be taken by printing, completing and sending in the application form at the bottom of this page. Alternatively you can email (sportspluscamp@christiansinsport.org.uk) or call (01869 255 644) the office for an application form to be sent to you.

NB: Sports Plus is aimed at the young person who is serious about sport. If a young person applies who does not play sport regularly or only at a recreational level, we may contact the parent/guardian to discuss whether Sports Plus is a suitable camp for them.
