What is Sports Plus?
The vision of Christians in Sport is to see Christians at every sports club representing Christ and building the church, and that includes the generation of young people before us!

Can you picture hundreds and thousands of committed young Christians on fields, courts, tracks and in pools, in every corner of this country? Imagine a Christian influence in every club, school sports team and youth group; giving 100% in all that they do, understanding that God has created them able to play sport whilst representing Jesus to their friends.

Sports Plus fits into the overall vision of the youth department of Christians in Sport. Young sporty people from all over the UK (many of whom have been spurred on or brought by a teacher, youth leader or coach) come for a week of fantastic sports action. The dream of Sports Plus is that we teach the unchanging good news of Jesus in a relevant way to those who don't yet know him, whilst building up the Christians to live their lives for Christ specifically in their sporting environment.

Training for leaders
Sports Plus begins for our leaders with the training weekend from the Friday evening. You are required to attend the whole weekend. This is a valuable time to meet the other leaders and to receive some training to equip you in your role. The training will run until 4pm Sunday, at which time the young people arrive. Sports Plus finishes at 4pm on the following Friday. If as a youth leader you will have young people at Sports Plus we would encourage you to arrange well in advance for them to travel to the venue with their parents or other responsible adults so that you are able to attend the training weekend.

Child Protection and Health and Safety
Christians in Sport take seriously the responsibility to the young people in their care. All leaders will undergo a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check in order to join the team. Our policies on the safe handling and storage of data, and the recruitment of ex-offenders are available to view on the website.

Christians in Sport has its own Child Protection Policy and Health and Safety Policy which leaders are required to read. Each leader will be required to adhere to these policies at all times. These are available to view online.

What characteristics do we look for in leaders at Sports Plus?
Christians in Sport leaders must first and foremost have a passion to follow Jesus. They must be committed Christians who are actively trying to let Jesus reign in their hearts and live him out. We want leaders who are willing to serve God, the gospel, the young people and each other.

Roles
There are many ways in which you could serve at Sports Plus:

Support Staff
Support staff are the people who strive endlessly to make sure Sports Plus runs as smoothly as possible.
There are specific areas of camp that need assistance; such as administration, first aid, audio and technical support and other practical areas. Please contact the office before applying for a role here.

Medical Staff
There is also a need for appropriately qualified people to help at Sports Plus with first aid. Please note on your application if you have relevant experience (past or current) and qualifications.
