Sports Plus 2017 Trainees

sports plus trainees

Sports Plus is a week of specialist sports coaching and team competitions for young people who are serious about sport and play regularly in a club or team. Sports Plus is the perfect way for young people to improve in their sport, while exploring more about the Christian faith and what it means to be a Christian sports player.

The Trainee programme is a specific two-year training programme for young first time leaders who are playing regularly in clubs and teams. It provides an opportunity to experience different aspects of Sports Plus leadership as well as what it looks like to be a Christian in sport throughout the year. This summer all camps will run the same two-year programme, including Northern Ireland and Scotland which have previously had a different structure due to the size of the camp.

Year 1 is a separate programme run in conjunction with Sports Plus while Year 2 incorporates an opportunity to gain experience of various leadership roles. The key components of each year are:

Year 1:
- Biblical teaching and grounding in the Christian faith
- Christians in Sport Pray, Play, Say Training
- Serving by supporting various elements of Sports Plus
- Experience of Christian community and mission

Year 2:
- Biblical training in Christian leadership
- Christians in Sport Pray, Play, Say Training
- Assigned to assist Team Leaders in delivering Sports Plus
- Experience of Christian community and mission
