Giving an answer

1 Peter 3:15 Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

Some of us have the gift of being an evangelist. We naturally talk about Jesus and what we believe. Others come to know Christ through us. However, most of us are not evangelists and perhaps we felt guilty.

In a recent interview Cyrille Domoraud, captain of the Ivory Coast team in the 2006 World Cup was asked if he found it difficult to be a Christian in the world of football. He replied, “I am there to talk about God. Not to preach with a Bible but to say a word sometimes about what God has done in my life”.

Sometimes we feel that we need to share the gospel with everyone and feel guilty if we do not. Peter’s words should encourage us. We are to be ready. Ready to give an answer. As we represent Christ, people may notice that we live our lives differently and ask us. We are to be ready to give an answer.

Pray for your non-Christian friends that they would ask you a question that gives you an opportunity to

"give the reason for the hope that you have”.
