A New
Start Isaiah 54v4
David
Beckham is back!
When England got knocked out of last summer’s World Cup the last picture
of Beckham was of him being substituted in tears. He knew what they were
all saying was about to come true, that his international career was
over. Today he’s got his life back, he’s king of the world again – well,
at least England, after his performances against Brazil at the weekend
and in a 3-0 victory against mighty Estonia last night. He couldn’t have
dreamt such a thing was possible even two months ago. Wonderful!
Isaiah 54 is set in the world’s greatest empire of it's time, Babylon
and our heroes, God’s people Israel, are down and out. They think it’s
all over for them. But they should think again. Because of the death of
God’s servant recorded in chapter 53, they are promised an incredible
new start:
Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace;
you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the
reproach of your widowhood. Isaiah 54:4
God loves to give a new start! This new start promised to Israel as they
live in despair points forward to Jesus, who will give a new start to
everyone who comes to him in despair. That’s everyone. This is a message
for those who haven’t yet come to know him as Saviour and Lord. It is
also for believers who need a new start. Anytime, anyplace, anywhere!
Are you struggling? Jesus wants to give you a new start right now. Read
Isaiah 54:4 again. He’s the God of the comeback. He wants you to come
back today. Right now. David Beckham is back in English football and he
didn’t expect it. God wants you right back in his arms now. Whatever
you’ve done, wherever you’ve been, however far away you thought you
were. He really does.
Why not mentally put your name in here right now:
………………… is back with God.
I hope you have. He loves you so much. He wants you back NOW.
Drop me a note; I’d love to hear your news!
