What Sports Plus camp meant to me - read what those at camp say about it!
In 2003, Christians in Sport held camps at Repton and Brecon with 265 young people and 192 leaders. The camps are an intensive 5 days of specialist coaching combined with team competitions, big screen presentations, interviews and competitions, all leading to learning about the life of Jesus and being a Christian today. The team leader“Team leading on camp provides a wonderful opportunity to meet young
people who share the same passions in life as yourself. The relationships
that are so easily formed in the small groups enable you to really get to
know each young person and provide the perfect platform to share Christ and
develop the young people's understanding of what it means to be a
Christian.” The young person“I am writing to say thank you and to let you know that for the first
time in my life I really understood how Jesus saved me and died for me. I
thought the coaching, services and seminars were fantastic.” The coach“As a coach it is great to be able to spend four hours a day helping the
young people develop their sports skills. As a Christian it is an even
greater privilege to be able to represent Jesus to the young people and help
them develop their relationship with the Lord.” The parent“I find the welcome when I drop the boys off outstanding, and one of
warmth and fun where everyone is accepted and there is a real sense of
camaraderie and care. Another important aspect is having time with older
people who have a real passion and desire for Christ and sport. We feel the
camps are very accessible to everyone and the boys have felt able to invite
non-Christian friends along and I have recommended it to several people. In
fact the boys can’t get enough and our holidays are now dictated by the camp
dates!” The CSLA student"I found the Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA) course very helpful
and it really boosted my confidence at refereeing games! I would certainly
encourage other people to do this course.” < back to story list | list all stories
