Midlands Christians In
Sport University groups
Thanks and praise to God for an excellent
and exciting last few weeks. It is so encouraging to see our university
students equipped and enthused to play for and speak of Jesus in their
sports clubs.
Weekends away
In the last weekend of October Nottingham
and Loughborough held a joint weekend away in the Peak
District. 27 students in total enjoyed getting to know each other by
doing various activities, being out in the Peaks, and being taught how the
bible applied to their own situation. Charlie Walker (regional
co-coordinator for the North-East) came to train us practically in our
evangelism, and as we were confronted repeatedly with the gospel in our
training one lad was convicted by the Holy Spirit and began his new life
with Jesus that evening. It made me see that the gospel is powerful
even when we don't expect it to be at work.
Chrissie Weir, one of our students from
Nottingham, ran a tight ship and thanks to her we were well fed and well
organised.
The Birmingham
group had some time away together too for a chance to get to know each
other and be encouraged in Christ. It was a great time and some of the
students from UEA Norwich joined us too, and putting our differences
aside, we had a tremendous time together, walking, swimming, and being
taught and trained as Christians in Sport. It was a great success and
people left more inspired and prepared to live for Jesus in their clubs.
Question of Sport The Nottingham group held a 'Question of Sport' pub quiz at which Mark, a first year hockey player, shared his testimony explaining the gospel and how Jesus had changed his life. 54 guys from Nottingham were there, mostly not Christians, so it was marvellous to see the group engaging in evangelism.
Please pray for the students as they
continue in their one to one witness at training, on Wednesday nights,
and off the back of events which we are putting on. Birmingham
and Loughborough both have evangelistic evenings coming up too.
Thanks to everyone who has been praying for
us, it is so valuable, and we really appreciate it. It's such a
privilege to partner together in this vital work.

co-ordinator - Midlands
