Evangelism training at Kings Church, Perth
At King’s Church, Perth, we have recently created and run a seven week evangelism training course based largely around material from Christians in Sport. This included guidance on the preparation and delivery of our personal testimonies, how to explain the gospel using the ‘bridge to life’ diagram, a look at our role and God’s role in evangelism and some examples of how to be more directed in our evangelism strategies, both personally and as a church. On the final evening we had a celebration meeting of prayer, praise and testimonies. It was very exciting to hear some people share their own personal stories whilst others shared of opportunities they had taken to explain the gospel with friends and colleagues.
What's happening now Now, two months on, the profile of evangelism has definitely been raised in the church. A lot of people report that they feel much bolder and more equipped to take opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ. As a result many of the church members invited guests along to our Alpha launch supper last week. Twelve guests have signed up to do the course and one of these first came into contact with the church through the six week golf outreach we held earlier in the year. He is now also going to play in the church volleyball team, King’s Arms, which plays locally and consists of church and non-church players.
