Kate’s Story
“Kate came to university from a church family, but
Christianity was never something she was really bothered
with. She knew all the stories about Jesus, but it wasn't
ever something which she applied to her own life. But when
she started uni, Kate, because she plays sport, came along
to the weekly Christians in Sport group. For the first few
meetings she was always quite quiet, then she began coming
along on to church too.
"One day she asking if we could meet up and have a chat
about a few things. At this point I assumed that she was a
Christian. Kate said that she didn't really understand, she
could see me and what I had in my life but she knew she
didn't have that and she didn't really understand why. So
although she had heard loads about Jesus while growing up,
she didn't really understand the gospel. I spent a bit of
time explaining that it’s not just a case of believing the
stories that she heard but actually accepting Jesus into her
life.
"Kate said she understood that she needed Jesus, that he
had died for her so she could be forgiven and be in a
relationship with God. We carried on chatting about what a
big commitment it is to become a Christian, after which I
explained the A,B,C to becoming a Christian which I had seen
on the Christians in Sport evangelism DVD. Kate gave
her life to Jesus sat on a park bench!
She's been going well since then, getting involved with
church, and we have been meeting most weeks to do Bible
studies together.”
