New Year Conference 2006 -

one for all and all for one

What a fantastic way to start the year!  150 people together for 4 days.  Encouraging each other in our faith in Jesus Christ, inspiring and motivating each other to live for Him in the sports culture and being equipped to share Him with our club mates.

"For me, the conference was a great chance to get myself back on track with God and to soak up some valuable support and encouragement from my fellow sporty Christians - it's good to know you're not alone in your struggles. The session on spiritual conversations was excellent - real and practical advice on how to approach current affairs conversations with our friends from a Christian perspective."

"I really got a lot out of it – the seminars and Bible teaching were really good. I thought it was especially helpful to have a female speaker for one of the talks, which for me was a change from church and CU. The small group time was also a good opportunity to share and get to know people better.

Perhaps unusually, what I felt most in need of before the conference was more enthusiasm for my sport, which I had not really being enjoying lately - I prayed about this with my small group and I have been amazed at how God has changed my heart, almost overnight, and I am being to really enjoy running again, having been reminded of my purpose for doing it."

"Jesus-Focused, Encouraging, Challenging, Reviving, Stimulating, Thought-Provoking, Motivating, Exciting, Interesting, Useful, Refreshing, Heartening, Vitalising, Helpful, Over All Inspirational!  Fantastic Teaching! Good Food! Great People! Awesome Time! Best way to start the year."

"I've never been to the conference before, so was a little nervous! But there was no need, it was brilliant. I have been really challenged by everything I've heard, and it has given me an urgency about telling my friends about Jesus. I just want them in heaven with me! Also, I used to think my testimony was just ordinary - Christian family, and always loved God. But at the conference I just got a new passion, a spark - and I just want to share my testimony with everyone."

"Man what a challenging few days it was at the conf this year - so good though, just what i needed to really get some time to properly think some issues through, talk to good Christian mates and really get focused again to go back and make an impact for God this term.

For me on that last day to sit up on the stage and remember again what God has done in my life was awesome, it really hit me after how I'm so quick to get so gutted with myself for being a donkey but how much i have to praise God for with the amazing things he has done in my life and how he has changed me over the last couple of years. Being constantly reminded throughout the whole 4 days of how we do all mess up time and time again, but God doesn't mess up and he just loves us so much as Greg would say........

"God is delighted with me not because what I have done, but because of what Jesus has done for me"

That is such an amazing truth and just such an inspiration in wanting to get my chin up and press on. Just such a good time - every talk was just clear and many of them challenged me so much but how much did they make me see that I need and desperately want to be there standing in line behind King Jesus at all times.  Ah quality times hey, great friends, great banter, great teaching, great chats, fun sport and all worshipping and growing closer to our amazing saviour."
