You'll never walk alone

National Hockey League player Andy Watson (Watto) writes of his experience at a recent match where the wristbands did the introductions.

"I was playing hockey in the National League North 'heavyweight' clash between Brooklands and Nottingham. Brooklands are a decent side and had one or two very skilful players, not least my opposite number, who seemed to be skinning me for fun!

"During a breakdown in play I noticed his blue coloured wristband to be the same as my own 'Audience of One' wristband. As play was about to resume, all we could do was mutually acknowledge each other's bands and play on. I have to say I felt a pang of encouragement to play well and start to get near him from then on, but with limited success.  Brooklands won the game in the end too, and my opponent (from Lancaster Uni) had a hand in their second goal to boot!

"I did finally manage to catch up with him (after the match) and it was great to see another Christian out there, playing well and honouring God - a real encouragement.  And strangely enough, another Christian in Sport supporter  for Durham Uni (Si), whom I met at the New Year Conference, was playing in the match following ours.  Come on!
