Happy Easter Friends!!
Let’s get down to business!
We have recently been looking at the whole thrust of what
Christians in Sport is trying to support you guys to do – I hope
you’d all be able to scream it back at me – Pray – Play – Say
taken from Colossians 4v2-6.
Pray for friends who don’t yet know Jesus
Play in a way that honours Jesus so that the message fits
the messenger
Say something of the good news of Jesus.
We then finished a series of helping you structure a good
testimony.
Today we are starting a new series:
What is the Good News?
If we are asking you to pray and play and say because we have
good news, then we need to know exactly what this good news is.
If we want to affect the world of sport in which we are in then
we need to know, to own and live that good news!
Sounds easy, yet you wouldn’t believe how difficult it is to
stick to the task – we often drift away from understanding the
good news, so how on earth are our friends going to grasp it!!
We need to remain focused!
I can remember playing footy for my club, around the age of 16.
I used to be able to play well for 60 minutes and then the last
30 used to be a nightmare. I can remember my manager bellowing
onto the pitch “Lanky, stay focused lad” or “Lanky, CONCENTRATE”
I used to go ‘walk abouts’ – I lost concentration and did what I
thought was best not what the manager had asked or instructed me
to do!!
So the same for us in our Christian lives. Unless we stay
focused, unless we continue to concentrate on the job in hand we
soon forget what that good news is. So right up until summer,
we’re gonna concentrate on the good news, so that the good news
keeps us motivated to make a difference for Jesus!
Hope you’re up for it!!
Make a difference this weekend dudes!!!
