Afternoon Friends,
Remember what we’re looking at – we’re trying to understand the
truth: that is the good news of Jesus.
This is our first week in a series of sessions leading up to the
summer in ‘Knowing the truth’.
What is truth eh?
Isn’t it funny how the truth often gets distorted? I was
listening to Radio 5 the other day (boring man – some might
say). Well, the discussion continued about who should be the
England manager. The people discussing were trying to get to the
bottom of who had been interviewed for the job. The bottom line
was that no one really knew – their sources of information were
flawed, they were scratching for threads of truth but finished
with some half truths flying round, alongside rumours and simple
lies – no-one knew what was happening!
So where will we be gleaning our truth from??
The most reliable documentation the world has ever seen – The
Bible!
If you have time – check out how amazing the evidence is of
authentic manuscripts of the bible we have in our hands – it is
outstanding! A book called ‘Case for Christ’ by Lee Strobel is a
great book to back up this evidence.
We believe that the bible is the word of God and that it is a
truthful account of history. Very much unlike the commentators
and sports pundits discussing the England job, we have hard
evidence that springs up from one reliable source!
Check out 2 Timothy 3v16 – it’s a our starting point for all
truth!!
So what is truth? A man in history once stood up and told
everyone that ‘He was’.
Amazing news – and we have it as hard evidence!
What will you do with that truth this week?
Until next week – Hold fast to the truth found in the bible!!
