Pals – another week another dollar!!
I guess you’ll all be in some sort of daily routine and normality
since the summer!!
Let's remind ourselves of where we are – last week: We’re looking at
the book of Colossians. Paul writes to a group of Christians who are
being tempted to follow new and exciting things and not make Jesus
number one. We looked at how Paul told them that Jesus was
absolutely everything – all they need.
We’re now in chapter 4 of Colossians following the strap-line of
Christians in Sport to PRAY,PLAY,SAY
Read v2-4 – Paul tells the Christians to pray.
What is prayer? – If you haven’t already looked at the website there
is a whole chunk of info that will help you think this through.
Prayer is talking to God as our Father
Have a read of Romans 8v15-17. Here
Paul teaches us that it is the wonderful privilege of all believers
that we can now once again call God ‘Father’. The Spirit of God that
comes to live in the believer confirms that we are now children of
God, heirs with Christ and so able to share in all the privileges
that belong to Jesus as God’s only true Son. The lines of
communication have been restored!
Don’t feel guilty about prayer – just try and understand the
absolute privilege it is to talk to God.
Back to Colossians 4 v2 Paul tells the believers to devote. What a
word that is? Devote! It simply means be addicted to pray. Who are
you praying for at the moment. In Christians in Sport we carry the
names of 3 friends on a little card which reminds us to pray that
they would come to know Jesus.
Before you go any further – stop and pray for your 3 friends!
See you next week as we have a look how we should pray!!!
Be thrilled with your God given ability to play sport this weekend
and pray for those 3 mates that need Jesus!
