Bible Bit:

Know the Truth – Going through the basics Christians believe so that we are better equipped to tell our friends about Jesus

1 – God is God
2 – God is the creator of all things
3 – Man was originally created to be in perfect relationship with God
4 – Man has rejected God and His rule
5 – Man’s punishment is death and judgment.

6 – God has got a rescue plan for people

7 – Jesus was my substitute

8 – Jesus smashed death to pieces

John 3 v36:

“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on Him.”

This verse brilliantly sums up the 2 different responses people have to Jesus.  If you believe in the 9 statements that we have unpacked over the last few months and continue to believe in Jesus and what he has done – you can be sure that you will see everlasting life.

If you don’t believe – or know people who don’t believe you can be sure that they will not enter heaven, will not receive eternal life and will expect to receive the punishment we talked about in week 5.

Isn’t it such a bitter/sweet situation.

I want to rejoice so much in the good news of Jesus – to sing his praises from the roof tops, yet I still know so many of my friends and family don’t think the same way.  That’s the probably the bleakest picture we face in our Christian lives – friends who are not going to heaven with us!

Yet – that’s why we do what we do!  That’s why we encourage you to Pray, Play, Say so that others may see what you already know and may change their ways!

Imagine the day we enter the pearly gates of heaven – oh what a day, magnificent scenes!  And just imagine if your mates, who at the moment are lost, are standing there with you because you told them and showed them the truth of Jesus!!

Do it!  And don’t ever give up doing it!!

Prayer Points

  • For friends to respond the right way to the good news of Jesus

  • That you would continually want to share Jesus with lost friends

  • For Helen:  that her friend would come along to the next Christians in Sport outreach in Oxford.
