Bible Bit

At the end of last year we worked through understanding exactly what the good news of Jesus is all about in the series ‘Know the truth’  We didn’t completely finish the series so we want to pick up where we left off in July.

This week will simply be a reminder of where we got to so that next week we can pick up the baton and march on in understanding the good news to be able to tell it to our friends who aren’t yet Christians.

Know the Truth

1 – God is God
God’s purpose is above all things. He is God who is in charge and in control and rules the heavens and the earth. Often our plans seem more important than God’s. We need to know what God’s plans and purposes are.

2 – God is the creator of all things
God created all things - You are magnificently created by an Almighty God. This means your ability to play sport is God-given. Every move, every stretch, every breath you take is only because God has given it to you!!

3 – Man was originally created to be in perfect relationship with God

God created man perfect and shared a relationship with him – God talked to man and we even get the impression that God used to walk in the garden ‘in the cool of day’ (Gen 2v8) spending time with man and woman.

4 – Man has rejected God and His rule

Every single person has rejected God and His rule for their lives. That is what’s wrong with this world – it has turned its back on God. (Romans 3v10-12)

5 – Man’s punishment is death and judgement.

You and I have turned our backs on God – we deserve the due punishment which is death and God’s judgement after that which should be hell!! (Hebrews 9v27)

This is where we got to in our 10 week series – we’ve left it with bad news!!

Next week we get to grips with exactly what Jesus did on the cross – what a thrill!!

Prayer

Work through the points opposite:

  • Praise God for who he is and what he has created

  • Say sorry to God for the way you’ve turned you back on him this week

  • Ask that He would help you live for Him today and in the weeks to come

Looking forward to catching up again next week.

Remember to keep sending in your experiences and stories of Pray, Play Say!
