Full name:
Rachel Emily Arnheim
Nick name: Dori after finding nemo, as i am always forgetting
things!
Sport: pole vault
Sport status: i have competed for my club, county,
region and England! I am a member of Blackheath and Bromley AC.
Story: 4 years ago, I joined an athletics group and it was
really
scary because I didn't know anyone. One person was just really
friendly, we became friends and then one week, he asked me to his
youth group. I kept going and eventually became a Christian. It has
changed my life as I now know I have Jesus to live for and that in
sport I should be using all that God has given me. |
 |
Full Name: Chris John Bullock
Nickname: Boulards!
Sport: Football
Sports Status: Local Youth level for my club and adult league
for church.
Story: Representing Jesus has never been easy but he has
always been the main reason for me playing football. My team mates
all know what I stand for and respect me for it much more nowadays.
I've had some good debates with team mates and a few have mentioned
a few times that they are coming to church soon! Me and my best mate
(who came to sports camp last year after becoming a Christian whilst
playing for my school team through me witnessing to him...) are both
standing tall for Christ as we play for different teams in the same
league...right now I am praying for my team mates that they will
come to know Jesus as their Lord and saviour. |

Name: Sarah Edgar
Nicknames: tink, tinky winky, tinkerbell
Sport: rugby, hockey and bit of footy
Sport status: I play forward for my college, hooker and no.8 for
the Armagh under 18's at the minute and when I turn 18 I will move
in to our senior squad as hooker. I also got the chance to play
Ulster rugby last year for under 21's playing hooker.
Story: Being 1 of only 3 Christians on the team, I try to be
both on and off the field a witness to my other team mates and
friends who I play with, and I hope with in time I will be given the
chance to talk to a few of them about Christ. I am also praying for
one of my team mates who I know feels far from God and I hope that
she will come back, as she sees both me and 2 other Christians
playing along side her. |

Full name:
Kay Addyman
Nick name: don't really have one but maybe Addyman!
Sport: mainly football but I play quite a few others!
Sport status (standard): I play for my local club at football
- Tadley Calleva Girls U17
Story: well I'm currently praying for a girl in my football
team. Before every game I try to pray for hers and also to help me
to honour God while I'm playing!! It's been quite hard this season
as the level of competition has stepped up since last year and so
every game seems to be a matter of winning with my manager! Luckily
we have won most of our games and we won the league this year! It's
hard to keep God as my main motive to play, to remember where I got
my ability and to try to play for his glory not the glory of winning
or the approval from others. Its hard being the only Christian in my
team but it's really important to keep strong and remember to play
for an Audience of one as that's the only way of there becoming more
than one Christian in a team! |
 |
Full Name: Lauren McQuoid
Nicknames: Loz, Super Twin #2
Sports: Football, Rounders,
mainly Hockey
Sport Status: Represent A-Team
for Hockey and Rounders, mainly play with mates for fun!!
Story: I go to Emmanuel College
with some mates who also go to Christians in Sport, and our school
is very open about Christianity. Virtually everyone in my year knows
that I am a Christian, including my hockey team, and I want to
represent Christ both in and out of my sport. I'm praying that I
will play more for an Audience of One and that the other girls in
the hockey team will notice that God makes such a difference in
people's lives. And hopefully more of them will come to Jesus! |
 |
Name: Jon Hilsden
Nicknames: Hilsden, Jonny, Hils, JP
Sport: Football mainly, but a bit of Tennis and Rugby as
well.
Sport Status: I play for Glenwood Church in the South Wales
United Churches League Division 1, also play for my school 6th form
in rugby and for my tennis club.
Story: I play in a churches league but it is still very
competitive. I'd
like to think I play to the rules all the time, but I have some
moments of
madness where I shout at the referee or argue with another player,
but still
have never been booked. So I have to try and remember why I am
playing,
because God has given me the health and ability to play, so I need
to focus
on honouring God when I play whatever the situation. Also I have two
very good friends that are really into sport, but do not play for my
team, that I try to invite to church events, but they want nothing
to do with it. I am praying that God would open their minds to
trying church just once, and then see where we go. |
 |
Name:
Aaron Barry (no nickname)
Sport(s): rugby, football, cricket, volleyball
Standard: school standard for
rugby, play for my church team in football and cricket, play
volleyball for fun.
Story: The sports I play
can be very physically demanding and can get violent sometimes. The
way I represent Christ is by playing within the rules and trying to
avoid fights on the pitch that may erupt or even pulling players
from my team out of the fights to stop them getting too violent.
Also, I represent Christ by being willing to do whatever my
coach/captain wants me to do instead of arguing that I am in the
wrong position or play better somewhere else. I find this helps me
represent Christ because Jesus did not say no or was reluctant to do
God's will when he was dying on the cross, he did it with no
complaints. Although I'm not the perfect person and do get a bit hot
under the collar sometimes, it helps to know that Jesus died for me
with no fuss and did not get angry when taunted so I think that we
should all live like that to represent Christ in our sports. |

Name: Ashleigh McQuoid
Nick name: Ash
Sport: Hockey, Football, Rounders
Sport Status: I play for Emmanuel College Gateshead in the A
Team for Hockey. I also play for the A Team in Rounders and was last
season’s captain.Story: I am
among the few Christians in my year group and very few of my team
mates are believers. Many of my friends aren’t Christians, and I am
Pray Play Say-ing for all my friends and team mates. I do find it
hard to control my temper whilst playing hockey in particular, and
it is always helpful having my twin sister on the squad to remind me
to Play Pray Say! I aim to play for an Audience of One in all my
sports and with the Rounders season coming up I hope that I can set
a good example as a captain and a Christian. Hopefully my team mates
will ask me about my faith and how God is making a difference in my
life AND my sport!

 |
Sport: Hockey, Badminton
Sport Status: I am
currently attending U17 West of England Hockey trials and I
also play for my local club - Wootton Bassett Ladies 1st XI.
I won the Wiltshire Ladies
singles badminton championships in October 2007 and
have just taken part in the Nationals.
Story: I am the only
Christian in my local hockey team which can be tough at
times. I try to make sure that my attitude on the pitch is
different and that people will notice my efforts to
represent Christ - such as fair play and integrity. Before I
play in a hockey or badminton match I find it good to pray
so I will be focused on playing for God. I continue to pray
for my hockey and badminton team mates in hope that an
opportunity may arise for me to share my faith.

Name:
David Mathew
Nicknames:
Dave, Danger Mouse, Chip Buttie, Urchin
Sports:
Cricket, rugby and tennis for my school 1st team (Hymers
College)Besides golf off a 14 handicap, I play football,
badminton and many others for fun!!!
Story:
Playing in such competitive situations, particularly rugby, I
find it very difficult to put God before my performance.
However, I try to pray before each match and during if I
remember. I try to set an example to my team mates, e.g. a
recent match boiled over into a huge 15 on 15 fight (admittedly
including me to start with!!) After a few moments of adrenaline
rush, I realised what I was doing and tried to act as mediator
for the rest of the 10 minute incident! I was very grateful that
my faith took over from my heart and actually helped to calm
down the situation! |
 |
Name: David Bagnall
Nick name: Baggy, Baggers, Bagpuss!
Sport: Hockey mainly but badminton and squash as well
Sport status: I played for county and play for school 1st XI
Story: Playing school hockey has been hard this year as I am
the youngest, so it's hard for me to tell my mates about our awesome
God if everyone sees me as the young pup! I've got a friend also who
is really opposed to Christianity, it would be awesome to see her at
least come to CU at school.

Full name:
Katriona Cheng – known as Kat
Nick name: Kitkat, Ka’ching
Sport: Netball – Saffron Swans U30, Essex Junior Eagles
and Perse School for Girls Senior Squad
Standard: Player of year in Essex 2006
Story: It’s hard when not many of your team mates are
Christians but I have one or two who are, so before most
matches, we just get together and pray that both teams
will play fairly and we will all play to our strengths.
This is really encouraging as we know God is watching us
do what we do best. Then we play our best and we always
congratulate the other teams when they score and
encourage our teams to keep going. Then my friends and I
talk about our good and bad parts of the match and my
Christian friends and I always support each other when
we go through highs and lows cos we know that God wants
us to do it all for him!

 |
Name: Adam
Robertson
Nickname: Robbo
Sport: Football (different standard each week!)
Status: Church football team at the moment
Story: Adam wants to help us grasp PPS better:
Pray for your own actions in games, that you will be
able to stand out and make a difference by playing fair
and pray that people will notice.
Play in a way that represents Christ and do not be
afraid of bad reactions from other team members. I have
been in a side that has badly lost, but standing out
from the crowd, keeping my cool and admitting to bad
fouls gave me an unusual satisfaction. Many times have I
been on the winning side and felt bad because I failed
to represent Christ. Say if asked why you do what you do
(represent Christ) and try and invite your mates along
to youth groups etc.
