Arrival We are looking forward to welcoming you on Sunday 3rd between 4pm and 5pm. Please note, that due to leaders training, registration will not be available until 4pm and we will be unable to register any young people before this time. No dogs are allowed on the school site with the exception of assistance dogs. Departure You are warmly invited to a parents/guardians’ reception from 2-4pm on Friday 8th. During the first hour there will be time for conversation and connecting over a light lunch, alongside a brief presentation on our mission and the potential future journey of your child with Christians in Sport at Sports Plus and beyond. Then, at 3pm we’ll head out and watch the last Team Challenge. During Team Challenge you are welcome to take photos/videos of your child/children for personal use only. These must not be shared on any social media sites for privacy and safeguarding reasons. Sports Plus finishes for young people at 4pm after Team Challenge. Christians in Sport are unable to transport young people from stations/airports and their duty of care begins when the young people arrive on site and ends when they are collected by a parent/guardian. Mon - Thurs Young people have the option to arrive at either 7.45am, ahead of the morning jog and breakfast, or between 8.45-9am, ahead of the Morning Meeting. We will ask you to confirm your intended daily arrival times at registration on Sunday. Young people should then be collected at 9.30pm each day after the Evening Meeting (10pm on Thursday evening). Lunch and dinner will be provided each day, as well as breakfast if they arrive at 7.45am. Friday Young people have the option to arrive at either 7.45am or between 8.45-9am as usual on the final day. Lunch will be provided on the final day, as well as breakfast if they arrive at 7.45am. Below is a kit list of things to bring. This is only intended as a guide and there may be other things you wish to bring. We do recommend that all clothing and equipment is clearly labelled and please note new footwear is prone to rubbing/blisters so keep this in mind if bringing new footwear. Suitable clothing for five days of sports activities Sports equipment for your chosen sport (e.g. tennis racket, hockey stick) Footwear for your chosen sport (e.g. football boots) Protection equipment (e.g. shin pads, gum shield) Medication required for the week Small kit bag for daily activities Indoor and outdoor trainers Water bottle (clearly named) Waterproof jacket Sun cream and blister plasters Wash kit and towel Hat Soap (the majority of rooms are ensuite) Bible (if you have one) All bedding will be provided by the school. Mobile Phones We would love Sports Plus to be a screen free zone for young people. However if young people do bring a mobile phone it can only be used during free time and any misuse will be dealt with accordingly, in line with the Respect Pledge (click here). With the amount of sport being played daily and the physical demands of Sports Plus we want to ensure that young people get a good nights sleep. Therefore young people in junior teams will hand their phones into their Team Leaders at 9.30pm in the evening and will get them back at 7.30am. Phones will be turned off and handed to the Team Leader who will put them in a box for safe keeping overnight. Seniors will be allowed to keep their phones overnight, however as outlined in the Respect Pledge these cannot be used after lights out. Dress Code We ask that young people wear sports kit which is suitable for their sport, and continue to wear appropriate, non-provocative casual clothing or sports kit to relax in. Please note: Expensive items (mobile phones, jewellery etc.) are brought at the discretion of the parent/guardian and are the young person’s responsibility during Sports Plus. Dormitories are unlocked and Christians in Sport accepts no responsibility for the loss or theft of any property, apart from when phones are in the possession of junior Team Leaders. The school request that you do not bring any electrical items you know to be faulty/damaged and only use original chargers.

Below is a typical daily programme for Sports Plus and you can also click here to watch a short video showing what happen s each day. Please note there may be some adjustments to timings depending on restrictions set out by the school (e.g. meal times). Teams Young people will be divided into teams for accommodation, meals, small group discussions and Team Challenge games. The teams consist of between 6-9 young people and will have two assigned leaders for the duration of Sports Plus. Young people are divided according to age and sex but their main sport will have no impact on which team they are in. Generally junior teams are young people who have just finished school years 8-10 and senior teams are those who have just finished years 11-13; however this will depend on the breakdown of ages at each camp so may differ slightly. Where possible we will try to group young people in the team of their choice, based on who they requested to be with on the initial booking form, with a maximum of three together in a team. Accommodation Young people are accommodated with their teams in school boarding houses, with different houses for boys and girls and Team Leaders in separate rooms close by. The size and occupancy of bedrooms is dictated to us by the school and most rooms at Campbell College are single rooms. All meals are provided in the school dining hall by the school catering staff.

There will be two coaching sessions each day at Sports Plus as outlined below First Sport (morning) Each morning the young people will receive two hours coaching in their chosen sport - this is the sport they chose on the booking form. Young people must bring all relevant equipment with them for their chosen first sport as listed below. This is in addition to suitable sports clothing (e.g. shorts, t-shirt, skort etc). Hockey: astros, stick, shin pads and mouth guards (outfield players) or goalkeeping kit (goalkeepers) Rugby: rugby boots, mouth guard Cricket: spikes, bat, helmet, pads, gloves and for boys an abdominal protector (box). Second Sport (afternoon) In afternoons there will be a wider variety of sports on offer for second sport and the young person can choose something different each day. These options will be communicated with the young people at the start of the week and they will select their preferences each evening for the following day. Some second sport options require the young people to bring their own equipment. These include hockey, rugby and football, with the equipment required as listed above. The young person should also bring a tennis racket if they would like to play tennis. All other Second Sport options do not require the young people to bring any specific equipment other than indoor and outdoor trainers. Other options may include circuits, ultimate frisbee, badminton, basketball, cricket and touch rugby. (Please note all equipment for cricket will be provided for second sport.) Protection Equipment Young people must be wearing the appropriate protection equipment for all sport sessions (e.g. mouth guard, shin pads). Please take note of the compulsory items above and ensure your young person comes with all they need for their chosen sport. These will also be required for second sport. We will check at registration to ensure each young person has brought the appropriate protection for their first sport and if not this must be provided by the parent/guardian prior to the first session or the young person will be required to change sport. Other Information Appropriately experienced Head Coaches will lead all sports activities in line with government guidelines. It is encouraged that the young people take personal responsibility to inform the Head Coach of each session about any injury or issue which may limit full participation. For the safety of everyone no young person will be allowed to take part in any sporting activity wearing false/acrylic nails. Everyone playing netball must have short and smooth nails (as per the International Netball Federation rules). Young people must remove all jewellery before each coaching session and Team Challenge.

There will be some Christians in Sport resources, accessories and a selection of other books available on the bookstall. There will also be a tuckshop selling sweets, drinks and snacks. We will not be handling cash on site so if your child would like to purchase anything during the week you will need to add money to an account for them in advance by clicking the link below. The tuckshop will be open once daily from Mon to Thurs and young people’s spending on sweets, drinks and snacks will be limited to £4/day. The resources will be priced between £2-£6 and the accessories between £3-£10. When a young person makes a purchase, the amount is taken off their total which counts down during the week. At the end of the week parents/guardians can either request a refund of any balance remaining on the account or donate this to the Sports Plus Bursary Fund. All merchandise (e.g. hoodies, t-shirts) will only be available for online order and not available to buy on site so there is no need to add sufficient funds for any branded merchandise. Orders must be placed by 9am on Thursday 10th July for delivery in advance of Sports Plus. Orders can still be placed here after this date and will still be processed but cannot be guaranteed to arrive in time for Sports Plus.
